Vietnam and Côte d’Ivoire are focusing on enhancing their bilateral relations with a strong emphasis on expanding trade, investment, and collaboration in various sectors. Tô Lâm, a prominent Vietnamese leader, emphasized the significance of this growing partnership, highlighting that Côte d’Ivoire emerged as Vietnam’s largest trading partner in Africa in 2025. He advocated for broadening the scope of trade beyond the conventional commodities like cashew nuts and rice to foster a more diverse economic exchange.

Vietnam is keen on promoting investment cooperation across multiple areas. The sectors identified include agriculture, telecommunications, oil and gas, digital transformation, cybersecurity, infrastructure development, mineral processing, and the burgeoning field of electric vehicles. This strategic approach aims to create new opportunities and deepen the economic ties between the two nations.

On the other hand, Côte d’Ivoire has shown a strong interest in attracting Vietnamese businesses. The West African nation is eager to expand its collaborative efforts not just within its borders but across the broader West African region. This intent marks a significant step towards fostering regional economic integration and development.

The dialogue between the two countries also extended to other important areas of collaboration. They deliberated on enhancing parliamentary exchanges, which could pave the way for more robust legislative cooperation. Additionally, they discussed initiatives in education and workforce development, which are crucial for nurturing talent and skills. Furthermore, both nations are committed to strengthening people-to-people ties, which form the foundation of a sustainable and mutually beneficial relationship.
