As Vietnam’s diplomatic ties with Qatar continue to flourish, the recent National Day celebration in Doha underscored the deepening relationship and collaborative efforts between the two nations. The event, commemorating the 81st anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day, drew senior officials, diplomats, and business leaders, emphasizing a mutual commitment to peace, dialogue, and international cooperation.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Qatar Nguyen Huy Hiep highlighted the strides Vietnam has made in its development and the strengthening of its international relations, particularly with Qatar. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1993, the two countries have progressively expanded their cooperation across diverse sectors such as trade, investment, energy, labour, and telecommunications.
Economic exchanges between Qatar and Vietnam have seen significant growth, with bilateral trade reaching approximately $423 million in 2025. This increase reflects a burgeoning interest in business engagement and investment opportunities, demonstrating the potential for further economic collaboration.
High-level exchanges have been a cornerstone of this relationship, with notable visits such as Qatar’s prime minister journeying to Vietnam in October 2024. Both nations have expressed a strong desire to further reinforce their bilateral ties and explore new avenues for economic partnerships, reinforcing the foundation laid over the past decades.
The event in Doha served not only as a celebration of Vietnam’s national identity but also as a testament to the evolving partnership between these two countries, looking towards a future of continued cooperation and mutual benefit.
