In a recent meeting held in Hanoi, Vietnam and the World Bank have reinforced their partnership focused on enhancing water security, climate resilience, and sustainable development. Deputy Prime Minister Hồ Quốc Dũng met with senior World Bank officials to discuss the continuation and expansion of this cooperation. Vietnam has acknowledged the World Bank’s enduring support across critical sectors including infrastructure, environmental protection, agriculture, and sustainable development. The projects funded by the World Bank have been instrumental in advancing water resource management, ensuring food security, and enhancing climate adaptation efforts throughout Vietnam.

Deputy Prime Minister Dũng underscored the importance of water security as a strategic necessity for Vietnam. This priority is especially pertinent as the country grapples with escalating climate-related challenges, notably in the Mekong Delta region. He expressed appreciation for the World Bank’s “Water for the Future” initiative and showed eagerness to broaden long-term cooperation in water management and climate resilience strategies.

The World Bank reiterated its commitment to supporting Vietnam with a range of resources, including financing, technical assistance, policy advice, and international expertise. Their upcoming partnership framework with Vietnam will prioritize water security and climate adaptation, aligning with Vietnam’s strategic goals.
